Outward Bounds and Orienteering are excellent motivational activities which helps to build self-reliance, inner confidence and team skills.

Fieldcraft

The ‘Art of Field Craft’ is similar to following the country code. You use the countryside to pass through without disturbing, scarring or defacing it. There by leaving no trace of your presence of ever having been there.

In many other ways it is the basis of survival. The Student will be able to assemble, pack and wear his/her equipment comfortably. Protect themselves against the elements by constructing an improvised shelter. As a Student you will also learn how to and look after your clothing and equipment. You will learn how to estimate distances and ranges accurately. Observe and indicate objects, camouflage and conceal making the best use of ground and cover with the ability to use your eyes and ears without being seen.

Map Reading

Taught the skills of being able to identify and objects on the ground in relation to the map. Identify symbols on the maps and locate them on the ground. Being able to navigate using map and compass by day and at night. To be able to give a 6 figure grid reference of your location accurately.

First Aid

All will be instructed in First Aid up to an accredited Certificate. Heart Start Certificates for each part of the subject and all will be encouraged to became a Young First Aider.
